Jerks at work
A journalist asks:
"Need tips on how to deal with jerks at work. Also, are we seeing
more jerky behavior when companies tighten their belts?"
Yes.
The biggest jerks are alcoholics. Not drinking at work and often jerks--abusively so--when not drinking.
Alcoholism causes egomania. When egos are being shattered, as is occurring now as incomes implode and power over others shrinks, alcoholics look for other outlets. This often takes form in increasingly abusive behaviors toward others.
I wrote about a version of this phenomenon in the Nov-Dec '08 issue of the addiction report. You can cut and paste http://www.preventragedy.com/pages/TAR/044.novdec08.html to take you right there. And remember, you can learn much more--with the goal of protecting yourself from "jerks"--from my books.
